Like many physicians, Dr. Hamamji chose a career in medicine because he has a sincere desire to help people get well. In addition, he believes in providing the highest quality and most up-to-date medical and surgical care to his patients in a caring and compassionate way.
Dr. Hamamji received his medical degree from St. Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. He then completed his General Surgery training at the University of Montreal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, certifying in the field of General Surgery and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. As he moved to California he obtained a certification from the American Board of Surgery and joined the American College of Surgeons.
Today, Dr. Hamamji maintains interest and expertise in a wide range of areas, including advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. As he became involved in bariatric surgery, he developed, along with Dr. Jeffrey Johnsrud, the Bariatric Program at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange, of which he is the medical director. He is also a member of the American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery.
Dr. Hamamji is fluent in French, Arabic and English. When he is not working, he enjoys soft and classical music, contemporary authors and fine arts.
